Grangewood Park lies up a hill in what I suppose is South Norwood. It is certainly not a local park for Addiscombe by any means, but it is close enough to the north-west to be worth a mention on this site. It is certainly within walking distance, though that walk is uphill to get to it, but there aren't any really direct public transport links from Addiscombe. The park is largely woodland with paths through it. There is a children's playground towards the Wharncliffe Road / Ross Road corner of the park and also around there are what I assume are supposed to be ornamental gardens, though they seemed rather underwhelming when I was there. Tennis courts, a bowling green and pavilion, a basketball court, and a football court (?!) lie in a row parallel to Ross Road in the same area of the park. So basically the unique selling point is it being mostly woodland rather than having playing fields. Whether that is enough to make it worth the effort to get there is up to individual tastes.
Grangewood Park is in South Norwood (I think!). It is a roughly triangular shape and is bordered by Grange Road (A212) to the west, Ross Road to the south-east and, Wharncliffe Road. There is a formal gate at the junction of Ross Road and Wharncliffe Road and a roadway leads some distance into the park from the north end on Grange Road near the junction with Wharncliffe Road. There are no doubt lots of other gates scattered all around the park but the only other one I saw was along Ross Road and that appeared to be locked.
To follow.
